Common Softball Questions:

Fastpitch vs. Slowpitch?  The simple answer for today is Fastpitch.  First, fastpitch really isn't all that "fast" when you consider the age group.  For those moving up from machine pitch leagues, the 9/10 year olds will likely be throwing slower than the machine did.  So, slowpitch is not really a more introductory level.

Plus, we want to be upfront about things ...  the interest in Slowpitch is almost non-existent.  Going on prior year experience, we will not have a slowpitch team at the upper age groups.  And even if we are able to make one at the 9/10 level, it will have to travel the parish to play.  In years past, our 9/10 fastpitch teams have been able to stay in house.

But if you really want your daughter to play slowpitch, we will sign them up and forward their name on to another association if they are able to make a team.

SOFTBALL UPDATE (19  February  2015):  for the 2015 season, girls WILL NOT be allowed to play up one year to another league.  Please take that into account before registering your daughter once registration is opened.  Also, the majority of girls in U10 and older play Fastpitch softball.  In fact, in 2014, we did not even have enough players to form SLOWPITCH teams higher than the U10 age group.  And in U10, there was only one SLOWPITCH team so it had to travel the parish to play their games.  We had enough teams in U10 FASTPITCH to play in house.  Our U12 and U14 FASTPITCH teams had to play a parish schedule.  Please consider that as well before registering your daughter to play.

(April 2014):  We WILL HAVE CSA teams in FP U11/12 and FP U13/U14.  We WILL NOT have enough players to field teams in SP U11/12/13 and SP U14/15/16.  Those parents should have received an email giving them instructions on their options.  If not, please contact the commissioner using the contact button on the side of this page.

SOFTBALL QUESTIONS:  For any other Softball related questions please send a message to the Commissioner of Softball using the Contact Info selection menu tab to the left.  Please do not just send an email asking for general information or asking for a specific date when registration will open.  Responses to such emails will likely just refer you right back to this page.  Those of us helping run CSA are all volunteers with day jobs and other family responsibilities.  We created this webpage to answer the "general" questions.  And as soon as we know when registration will open, we will post it on this page.  Having said that, we are always happy to answer any specific questions not answered on these pages!!!
